This review is taken from my foodie Insta @hulleatswithpetgoth – give me a follow 😊

The King’s Head is located in Saturday Market & is a well established pub/hotel. They have an impressive & extensive menu including wood fired pizzas, steaks, sharer boards & plenty of mains, starters & desserts to choose from as well as a separate Sunday roast menu. As it was a Monday lunchtime, we were able to take advantage of their fantastic light bites menu which runs from 12-3pm Mon-Sat. At £7 for 1 course, 2 for £10 & 3 for £12.50 it is an absolute bargain. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I started with the summer salad which consisted of maple glazed carrots, orange segments, avocado, spinach leaves, house dressing & chilli toasted seeds. The salad was actually really tasty although not much to it volume & aesthetic wise, but as I ordered 3 courses I wasn’t too fussed about this & looks aren’t everything! For my main, I chose the pan-fried smoked haddock fishcakes with a poached egg & hollandaise sauce. The fish cakes were very filling & tasted good. It was a decent sized portion & the breaded outside was nice & crispy. My criticism is that the poached egg was slightly over cooked & didn’t have the perfectly runny yolk one wants from this type of egg. Also, the sauce to fishcake ratio was totally off & more sauce would definitely have been welcomed! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My favourite course was probably the dessert. I got the giant profiterole with lemon curd cream, raspberry sauce & pieces of crushed meringue. The dessert was super light & tasty & looked fab! Overall, the meal as a whole was very satisfying, there was lots of choice & it was great value for money. I would recommend & would visit again 😊⠀⠀⠀⠀
