    1 Review on “El Chupitos”

Like many, I’m a big fan of mexican food. Spicy, cheesy, tomatoey, meaty…. My idea of food heaven!

Well, Hull isn’t packed with choice when it comes to Mexican restaurants, but El Chupitos is one of the few choices we have in the area and thankfully, it’s a good one! It’s a popular restaurant which has been open for a few years. But with a new menu just launched, we were invited along to sample some tasty dishes. Here’s why you should head along and try it for yourself…

Inside the restaurant, you can expect a street-style, Mexican “Day of the Dead” theme throughout and there’s plenty of space downstairs and upstairs so you can dine comfortably.

With its location, it’s ideally positioned for students at the uni, but there are plenty of booths, big enough for groups so it’s ideal for a night out after work too. But it was a great spot for our quick lunch date and we can’t wait to go back for a date night!

We tried a number of dishes, including chicken fajitas served on a hot skillet; beef chilli nachos with sour cream, guacamole, cheese and fresh chillies; a chorizo and halloumi burrito and a steak enchilada – my personal favourite!

All the dishes had wonderful flavours. The chicken and steak were particularly good quality and cooked to perfection! Portions were really generous too – the El Chupito Nachos were huge, even as a sharing portion!

We loved the unique flavour of the Chorizo and Halloumi burrito. It’s not what I’d normally order so it was a great surprise and one I’d definitely order again.

Drinks were nice. We had a couple of non-alcoholic cocktails; the Sugar Skull and Senorita Sunrise which were fruity and very sweet.

Like many of our local restaurants, prices were fair, especially for the quality and portions!

Tacos range from £5.50 up to £8 while our ‘El Chupitos Nachos’ were £5 and great for sharing. The burritos & chimichangas range from £7.50 up to £9.50 which are an excellent choice for an individual main course. My favourite Adobo Steak Enchilada is only £10, but other choices range from £9 – £11.
